
New Delhi, May 28: Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang attended the Seventh Convocation Ceremony of Sikkim University on Wednesday in the esteemed presence of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Describing the occasion as a matter of great pride and privilege, the Chief Minister said the convocation celebrated not only academic excellence but also the dedication and aspirations of students, faculty members, parents, and the entire academic community.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Murmu for gracing the historic occasion despite her demanding responsibilities, stating that her presence reflected her deep commitment to education, youth empowerment, and nation-building and made the event truly memorable for everyone present.
Congratulating the graduating students, Chief Minister Tamang said their achievements were the result of years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. He encouraged them to move forward with confidence and reminded them that true success lies not only in personal accomplishments but also in the positive impact they create in society.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the Vice Chancellor, faculty members, university staff, researchers, and parents for their invaluable contributions in shaping the future of the younger generation.
Highlighting the university’s growth, he noted that since its establishment in 2007, Sikkim University has emerged as a premier institution of higher learning in the North East, making significant contributions in education, research, innovation, and the preservation of Himalayan heritage. He reaffirmed the Government of Sikkim’s continued support for the university’s development, including the advancement of the Yangang campus and related infrastructure.
Addressing the graduates, Chief Minister Tamang said that in an era shaped by the internet, Artificial Intelligence, and advanced digital technologies, young people have immense opportunities before them. He urged students to use technology wisely and responsibly for learning, innovation, and nation-building.
He concluded by encouraging students to dream big, work hard, uphold the values of honesty and humility, and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation, while once again extending his congratulations and wishing all graduates a bright, successful, and meaningful future.
