Aug 26: Every sibling has a running list. The chocolate they stole. The remote they never share. The clothes they never returned. The time they got you in trouble. The secret they threatened to tell. The countless childhood arguments that, somehow, are still being brought up years later. This Raksha Bandhan, Instamart and Mondelez India are giving siblings a way to finally put a number to it.
The Sibling Debt Calculator on Instamart turns familiar sibling misdemeanours into a playful score. Users can tick off 10 relatable “crimes” committed by their sibling, with each one adding 10 points to their debt. And there’s a very specific currency attached to that debt: Cadbury Dairy Milk. Every 10 points equals one Dairy Milk. So, if your sibling has committed five crimes on the list, congratulations - they officially owe you five bars of chocolate.
Once the calculation is complete, users can share their score directly with their sibling on WhatsApp through a pre-filled message, complete with the amount of chocolate they apparently owe. The sibling can then head to Instamart and add the corresponding number of Dairy Milk bars to their cart to settle the score.
The concept has also started sparking conversation online, with screenshots, sibling tagging and playful comparisons around who owes whom. Because unlike most Rakhi gifting experiences, this one comes with a question people are naturally tempted to share:
“How much did your sibling owe you?” One LinkedIn user said, “So when I saw Cadbury Celebrations & Instamart’s Sibling Debt Calculator this Rakhi, I knew I had to put our sibling history to the test. 10 statements. 10 points for every crime committed. And my sister scored 50 points. Which means, according to the official sibling court…5 Cadbury chocolates. She owes me 5. I sent her the score on WhatsApp. Her response? “Seriously?”. Another Instagram user said ”This is my Revenge Time…”
This isn't Instamart's first tryst with sibling humour. Previously, the brand turned age-old sibling rules into a "legally binding" Rakhi Agreement, complete with clauses on Maggi shares and charger rights.
