New Delhi, Jan 09: FUJIFILM Corporation has announced the launch of the “FUJIFILM LTO Ultrium 10 (40TB) Data Cartridge” (LTO-10 (40TB)), a magnetic tape storage solution that delivers a maximum recording capacity of 100 TB per cartridge (40 TB uncompressed). Designed to meet the growing demand for reliable, cost-effective, and secure data storage, the LTO-10 (40TB) addresses escalating cyber threats while enabling organizations to efficiently manage massive volumes of data. Shipments begin January 2026.

Building on the success of the LTO-10 (30TB) cartridge, launched in June 2025, the LTO-10 (40TB) incorporates FUJIFILM’s proprietary fine hybrid magnetic particles, enhancing areal recording density. A new thin-layer Aramid film technology reduces tape thickness, increasing tape length per cartridge by 30%, while maintaining full compatibility with existing LTO-10 drives.
Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director, FUJIFILM India, stated:
“As India accelerates toward a data-driven and AI-powered economy, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient storage is more critical than ever. This launch underscores India’s strategic importance and our commitment to delivering global technologies that empower enterprises while reinforcing our purpose of ‘Giving our world more smiles.’”
Mr. J Solomon Sukumar, Associate Director – Recording Media & Industrial Products, FUJIFILM India, added:
“The LTO-10 (40TB) reflects FUJIFILM’s commitment to capacity leadership, cyber resilience, and long-term reliability. With its higher storage density and air-gapped security advantages, it enables Indian enterprises, data centers, and public institutions to manage exponential data growth while strengthening disaster recovery and compliance frameworks.”
The LTO-10 (40TB) also expands its recommended operating conditions, now supporting temperatures from 15°C to 35°C and humidity up to 80%, enabling stable performance in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. Magnetic tape continues to be a trusted medium for large-scale, secure storage due to its stable read/write performance and air-gap capabilities, mitigating risks from ransomware and cyberattacks.
The global market for magnetic tape storage has grown at over 10% annually since 2020, driven by AI-ready archival demands, making LTO tape a critical component in modern data management strategies.
Kenichi Otaki, Head of Data Storage Solutions, FUJIFILM Corporation, concluded:
“As the world’s leading data storage cartridge manufacturer, FUJIFILM remains committed to developing high-performance, high-quality media that meet the evolving needs of our customers while building trust through reliability and innovation.”
