New Delhi, October 9, 2025: Art Magnum, in collaboration with CIMA (Centre of International Modern Art), unveiled the solo exhibition Jaya Ganguly: A Retrospective 1982–2025 at the Visual Arts Gallery and Open Palm Court, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on October 7, 2025.
The preview evening witnessed an overwhelming response from the capital’s art community, with leading artists, curators, collectors, and art patrons gathering to celebrate Jaya Ganguly’s profound body of work. The exhibition, curated by Mrs. Rakhi Sarkar, Director and Curator at CIMA, presents a comprehensive view of Ganguly’s four-decade-long artistic evolution, one defined by courage, confrontation, and emotional depth.
Through her art, Jaya Ganguly explores the complexities of gender, identity, and human resilience. Her bold lines and expressive faces capture the silent struggles and subtle defiance of women navigating patriarchal realities. The exhibition features works from the early 1980s to recent years, tracing her journey from early monochromatic studies to powerful, layered canvases that embody both vulnerability and rebellion.
Speaking at the preview, Saurabh Singhvi, Director of Art Magnum, shared, “Jaya’s work holds a mirror to society, one that compels us to look within. Her art is raw, questioning, and deeply human. We are honoured to bring her retrospective to Delhi in collaboration with CIMA.”
Curator Rakhi Sarkar added, “Jaya Ganguly’s art represents the voice of a woman who has seen, felt, and endured, and yet continues to create from a space of strength and empathy. This retrospective is a celebration of her honesty and artistic courage.”
The preview was attended by members of Delhi’s cultural and art fraternity who praised the exhibition’s curatorial sensitivity and the emotional intensity of Jaya’s visual language. The show continues to draw visitors eager to experience her rare and introspective works in person.
