Mumbai 16, October 2025: Target Learning Ventures Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading publishing houses focused on educational initiatives, recently organized a highly impactful webinar titled ‘How Healthy Is Your Child’s Heart’. The session featured Dr. Sarang Gaikwad, an expert Consultant Pediatric and GUCH Surgeon, who highlighted the critical importance of early heart disease detection in children and the life-saving skills every caregiver should possess, particularly CPR. To promote awareness and build life-saving skills, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is also observing CPR Awareness Week from 13th to 17th October 2025.
Dr. Gaikwad, with over two decades of expertise in pediatric cardiac care, has been deeply involved with the cardiac transplant programme at Fortis hospital till 2018. He is currently associated with Asian heart institute and MRR children’s hospital, Thane. He is one of few flying surgeons who have been instrumental in starting pediatric cardiac programs in tier2 and tier 3 cities in Maharashtra and neighbouring states.
The interactive webinar, organized by Target Learning Ventures Pvt. Ltd., attracted a diverse audience of parents, educators, and healthcare professionals. Dr. Gaikwad emphasized the importance of early detection and prevention, detailing common signs of heart disease in neonates and infants, such as poor feeding, difficulty in breathing, and failure to gain weight. He encouraged caregivers to stay vigilant and trust their instincts if they notice any abnormal symptoms, stressing the importance of early pediatric checkups and routine diagnostic screenings. Additionally, he explained the differences between performing CPR on a child and an adult, highlighting the specific techniques required for each.
Dr. Gaikwad urged, "Every educator should be equipped with the knowledge of how to perform CPR effectively, as these skills can be life-saving in an emergency."
