The expansion has been introduced under the Mukhyamantri Cancer Care Abhiyan to strengthen cancer treatment services and provide beneficiaries with access to a wider range of medical procedures and specialised care options.
The newly included packages are expected to improve treatment availability for cancer patients by covering additional healthcare needs and supporting access to advanced medical services through the state’s health assurance network.
The initiative aims to make cancer care more accessible and reduce the financial pressure on patients and their families, particularly those requiring long-term and specialised treatment.
Cancer care often involves multiple stages, including diagnosis, therapy and follow-up support. By expanding the coverage framework, Odisha is working towards creating a more comprehensive healthcare system that focuses on timely treatment and better patient support.
The move is part of the state’s continued efforts to strengthen public healthcare delivery, improve medical access and ensure that more people can receive quality treatment without facing major financial challenges.
Healthcare experts have emphasised that wider insurance coverage and improved treatment access can play an important role in improving cancer outcomes, especially when patients receive timely medical attention.
With the addition of new packages under AB-PMJAY-GJAY, Odisha is taking another step towards building a stronger and more inclusive cancer care ecosystem for its citizens.
