Mumbai, 9th May 2025 – The Department of Tourism will soon host the Heritage Festival in Saligao, a vibrant cultural festival scheduled to take place from 9th to 11th May 2025. This three-day celebration promises a spectacular blend of traditional Goan music, folk dances, fashion, and live performances, reflecting the state’s deep-rooted cultural heritage and community spirit.

Speaking about the festival, the Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, said “The Heritage Festival in Saligao is a showcase of Goa’s living traditions, artistic expression, and the vibrant spirit of our communities. Through such festivals, we aim to create deeper awareness of Goa’s cultural identity and support regenerative tourism that uplifts our people, preserves our heritage, and boosts the local economy.” Through this festival the Director aims to give a platform to the local self help groups and to display the Goan heritage and culture in a big way.
The festival will commence on Friday, 9th May, with an evening of traditional Goan music, followed by an inauguration and felicitation ceremony. The opening night will feature the Kanta Gaude Troupe performing the Lamp Dance and Dekhni, a traditional Goan folk dance. The evening will also highlight a fashion show by Verma Dmello, culminating in a live musical performance by Sidhannath Buyao & Band.
Saturday, 10th May, continues the celebration with Goan music and diverse folk performances by the Kanta Gaude Troupe, including the Goff and Veerbhadra dance forms. The evening will also witness a lively performance by RAGA – The Band, followed by felicitation and a soulful set by renowned Goan singer Sonia Sirsat & Band.
The final day, Sunday, 11th May, will again open with Goan music and feature the Kanta Gaude Troupe showcasing the Jagor and Corridinho, a Portuguese-influenced folk dance. The night will conclude with energetic performances by RASM Band and Black Sapphire Band.
This festival is a significant step towards preserving and promoting Goa’s intangible cultural heritage and offering both locals and tourists a unique opportunity to witness authentic folk traditions and live entertainment. The Department of Tourism invites all to be part of this immersive cultural journey in the picturesque village of Saligao.
