The surge in retail leasing activity comes as retailers increase their footprint across shopping malls, high streets and emerging commercial hubs to tap into changing consumer preferences and rising spending power.
Industry experts said the growth is being driven by strong demand from segments such as fashion, food and beverage, beauty, lifestyle, entertainment and consumer services. Brands are increasingly focusing on larger, well-connected retail spaces that offer customers a better shopping and experience-led environment.
The recovery of organised retail, improving urban consumption and the growth of digital-first brands moving into physical stores have also contributed to the rise in demand for retail properties.
While major metropolitan cities continue to lead the market, smaller cities are emerging as new growth centres as retailers look beyond traditional markets to expand their customer base.
Real estate analysts said the increase in retail leasing activity highlights the broader strength of India’s consumption economy. Rising incomes, urbanisation and evolving shopping habits are expected to support continued growth in the retail real estate segment.
The latest trend indicates that India’s retail sector is entering a new phase of expansion, with businesses preparing for long-term growth by investing in strategic locations and customer-focused retail spaces.
