Himachal Pradesh, January 16, 2025: ACC, a cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani portfolio, in partnership with Adani Foundation, has improved irrigation facilities at Ropa village in Himachal Pradesh with support from NABARD. Under the Dhaunkothi Panjgain Watershed Development Project, a 639-meter concrete irrigation channel, locally known as ‘ kuhl, has been constructed to prevent water wastage and ensure timely water supply for 14 farmers, benefiting their 2.3 hectares of farmland.
ACC, in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, played a key role in providing technical expertise and project execution to replace traditional kaccha kuhls with sustainable paved channels. The initiative involved critical components including check dams and water-drop structures to maximize water conservation and distribution efficiency.
Farmers in Ropa village, including Ravi Thakur, are now enjoying timely irrigation and improved crop yields, with maize and wheat production increasing by more than 10%. “With water now able to be distributed evenly across all our fields, ACC and the Adani Foundation have truly transformed our farming prospects,” Thakur said.
ACC and Adani Foundation’s commitment to empowering rural communities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices is highlighted through such initiatives not only in Himachal Pradesh but across the country.
